你見過香港大學生的英語水平未？

當小學生移民外國，兩星期內就可以同外國人溝通到，又如何解釋？

我亦看不出為何有大學主動收一個學生，該學生有多少分都好，有甚麼「可恥」之處。

而一個人若果是「無料到」的話，一般來說是不會得到大學校長垂青的（除非他白痴到唔對個學生做評審，淨係睇兩份報紙就話收佢）。

加上，俾著係我，明知可直升大學，會考多少分有甚麼關係？當然係盡情去玩啦。

中學生睇得天咁大的中學會考（甚至AL），基本上讀完大學就不會再提亦不會再有人知。（CV已經冇位，仲寫陳年舊事？寫多少少你大學做過咩project好過啦）

咁你一定唔知,會考前佢學校安排過一些的補習班給他。但他唔領情,又如何解釋?他有重視過師長嗎?這是一個學生嗎?

我其實係撤底地否定香港教育制度 - 用30年前培育精英（之後去做政務官或management trainee）的架構，將課程縮水、降低難度（到大概50%水平），就照樣拿去搞全民教育，花時間玩這種戇居的考試遊戲，不如將時間去做實驗、讀專科書、去外地交流，乜都好。

如果有人大聲疾呼「12分上大學唔公平」，只能反映出此等人思考能力有缺陷（將人地點解能直上大學的理由故意視而不見），亦充份表現出其窮酸眼紅兼黑心小氣（戥人地開心一下唔得嗎？）。

但如果不用考試去選拔人材,那有什麼好方法?強迫所有學生去讀高等教育?(沒有那麼人力物力吧)。不過我對他12分上大學沒有異議,他的確有科學的認知,只恐怕他的英文能力比內地的還差吧。做論文一定有問題。

我認為他應該去一去讀一至兩年的英語課程才去大學吧。去ive的夜校讀英文,讀LCC的課程相等於會考英語合格。對他是最好的。

各人的專長或有不同，語文能力差，也不能否定他在其他方面的成就，至少我看不到那些所謂十優狀元能夠發明甚麼能夠在國際獲獎的小發明。我反而欣賞科大的破格取錄，這正好向學生及家長說明要成功，不一定只是單靠學業成績，也讓社會反思香港教育制度的弊端，事件實為一課良好的通識教育課題。

我同意語文能力是非常重要，畢竟陳同學只是一名中五會考生，年紀尚輕，還有很多時間給他用功努力，這要看他自己造化了。若果單憑語文成績就完全否定他的成就，那未免以偏蓋全。

雖然我讚成科大對陳同學的取錄，也不能因為他是尖子就給予優待，寬進嚴出，一方面體驗「求學不是求分數」的精神，也符合一視同仁的教學目的。

以我所知，陳同學不是直接就讀科大的一年級課程，而是要收一年期的先修課程，當中包括語文科目，有錯請指正。

我不反對你說考試是選拔人材的一個途徑，只是我們也應反思，在考試背後，是否可以有更多挑選人材的方法呢？考試分數又是否足以決定一切呢？

以我所知，外國就有很多大學都會收取一些成績未如理想但體育表現卓越的學生，就如很多美國田徑明星或 nba 球星都不是靠成績獲大學垂青的，這實在值得香港借鏡。

只恐怕他的英文能力比內地的還差吧。做論文一定有問題。 <-- 絕大部份法國人、德國人、日本人、意大利人、中國人（北大、清華、復旦etc） - 做論文都不是用「英文」的，有甚麼問題？

其他唔知，黃霑份博士論文就係中文。

我在中文大學就是以中文教學，學生也是以中文交功課。

雖然我在課程簡介內鼓勵同學以英文撰寫論文．．．

I dont understand why does he need to pass chinese and english CE exam? As long as he can speak chinese, and understand the grammer, that should be fine. Since the requirements in CE exam for Chinese are mainly focus on the old fashion usage of chinese, plus writing techique. what to do with his scienece study??
He cant pass the chinese exam, doesnt mean his chinese is not good enough~~
Ok, you say your dad will be so mad at you , if you cant pass chinese exam, but do you ever write anything in chinese using all those kinds of grammer, and writing skills in your daily life, but not during exams? wondering how much it can affect him if he cant write a wonderful peom. Moreover, about English, he is now going to study in HongKong, i know they are going to teach in English for the lectures, but have you seen the english level of the teachers in the uni? They aren't prefect either!!
And Studying science is more focus on the concept, than the grammer, or language, do you understand that?
although English is important in hongkong, but it's only because we need to communicate with ppl from other countries. but for science, as long as you can explain yourself well, thats should be fine. plus, what he needs to explain will be the formula or the process that he carry out the invention. it doesnt require any usage of english, as you may know from Chemistry lessons( if you have ever taken this subject, since you seem more like a person who study Art.) what you need to do is write the formula, and the use of english wont really affect your marks, as long as it is understandable.
Lastly!! Oral exam is quite different from english conversation. in exam, its more academic, and you need to follow a set of format. whereas, having english conversation is more causal, you can send whatever you want~ and dont forget , there is something called "BODY LANGUAGE", which is a universal language.
just dont understand why you against him entering uni so much, only because he cant pass chinese, adn english exams.

我也贊同科大的做法, 向大部分港人(包括閣下)表達一種訊息: 大學不只招收只懂考試的人, 而且只要你有專長, 不論你的語文程度如何, 也有接受深造的機會.

p.s. 愛因斯坦正是個理科天才,語文白癡, 如果以港人普遍的觀念(包括閣下), 恐怕相對論都不會有出頭天.
